    Cauterize balance idea

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 09:14 PM PDT

So what if cauterize levels 1/2/3 gave 50%/62.5%/75% healing reduction with no change in price? Think about it for a second:

The biggest issue I hear with the current meta is that it's stale and healing is overtuned at the moment. Hi-Rez has admitted that cauterize has a lot to do with that because it's so hard to balance.

Right now, it's imperative that about 4 out of 5 people on a team rush cauterize level 2 or you're boned because cauterize 1 doesn't do much. That makes for a very stale meta because your first 900 credits almost always have to be spent on one item or you're essentially throwing unless you're like a healer who should rush chronos first. The inability to buy other items early really limits the diversity of builds you can try in a truly competitive game.

What if, for 300 credits you got the full 50% effect. It's enough to actually kill something, but it doesn't render heals useless either. If you want, you can keep spending credits to get to 75%, but structuring it this way kind of disincentivizes that (although it's the exact same amount of credits you spend today for the same effect).

Now you can feel a lot more free to buy other items and diversify your builds. A great example I like to use is dodge roll reset Cassie. That's my favorite way to play Cassie, but the build doesn't really work until chronos 2 and shines at chronos 3. But right now, that takes sooooo long to get to because I'm forced to rush cauterize 2.

I realize the criticism is that "well everyone will at least pick up level 1 cauterize because it's so cheap and that's OP." My response is everyone already goes cauterize 2 and you could do this without making major balance changes to the healers since more people picking up cauterize 1 for the 50% should help counteract the overtuned heals.

Anyways, maybe it's a trash idea, but I really think it could help break through this stale meta we have and open up the possibility for a lot more viable builds and champs who are currently hamstrung by having to rush cauterize 2.

To the devs: Is there a plan to revive and invigorate this game?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 01:49 PM PDT

I care for this game a lot, stream it, play around master's rank and have introduced many folks via our community but it feels like the ship is truly sinking from the dwindling players numbers and same player matchups alongside the poor matchmaking. To the devs: What is being done to prevent this and boost this game to what it could be? Everyone seems to adore the gameplay but it feels like the game is constantly neglected. Anyway, I'm hoping some devs or community managers reply and to start a discussion with the community to see what can be done. Whilst the gameplay is so fun, everything else seems to be dragging this game into the dust.

Why aren't the players informed when someone disconnects in one of their matches?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 07:55 PM PDT

It doesn't make any sense to me why we aren't. 95% of the time when someone disconnects their team loses because of it. And sometimes it's not apparent that they do DC, in the case of a Frontline player. But then you can't communicate with your tank and it feels like they're either feeding and/or new to the game. And they could end up being reported if they don't come back. What do you all think about telling everyone when someone gets turned into a bot?
