Some quick tips to help newer players

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 01:47 PM PST

I usually see a lot of new players making simple or small mistakes, so I put together this list of tips to help them. I'll start in order of class in the lobby screen, so for today it's damage.

Bomb King- You can detonate your ultimate earlier, this is useful for when you're taking heavy damage while approaching a target. By detonating earlier, while still within range of the target, you keep yourself alive and still get to finish off someone with the stun from the ult.

Cassie- Don't ult at the very beginning of a round after reaching the point. Your ult will most likely go to waste since everyone will be on the point(except flanks). The only instance you should use this ult when starting a round is when you suspect the entire/half the enemy team will flank your team.

Dredge- You have two other abilities, use them. The harpoon gives a slowing affect, great for fighting off flankers to either finish them or make landing shots easier. Your portals give you immunity while going through them. Use portals to get out of a sticky situation or to regroup with your team.

Drogoz- Don't ult in front of the enemy. Also make sure that there is no possible way an enemy can escape your ult. By enemy I also mean frontlines, which I see drogoz players ulting the most. Here are all the champs that can evade your ult, and how to ult them. For atlas, wait till he uses his setback. for Raum, wait till he uses juggernaut. For Fernando, wait until he uses ult. Inara can either have two walls or cc immunity, but just wait till her wall/walls are down before ulting. Drogoz ult can also punch through a mother's grace inara. Wait after Khan uses his battle shout. Makoa can't really counter drogoz ult, so just wait until he ults. For terminus, wait till he uses his ult.

Imani- Use both fire AND ice. Ice is great for the beginning of team fights while fire should be used to burst down opponents and be more aggressive.

Kinessa- Scope out after taking out a target or just every now and then. Flankers find it really easy to kill nessas because of unawareness.

Lian- Your ult is no longer an "I win button", so use it wisely. It's better used to take out single targets causing trouble for your team, like snipers.

Sha Lin- When using withdrawal or his ult, move away from your original spot to throw off enemies.

Strix-Same tip as kinessa, but also don't cloak and keep going in the same direction you were before cloaking. It's also okay to solo ult a flanker trying to kill you, given that you actually can survive because then it's just wasting ult.

Tiberius- Your ult charges fast, so use it for mobility every now and then. Tiberius's dash is great for getaways or getting to places you usually can't .

Tyra- Use your hunter's mark primarily on flankers. By revealing flankers you warn your team and all of you can work together to take care of them. This makes it easier for your back line and healer to do their job.

Viktor- Before going around a corner or a flank route, chuck in a grenade. The grenade will tell you if someone is waiting inside which keeps you from getting surprise attacked.

Vivian- Make sure you're not scoped in 99% of the time. While holding down fire and scope may seem fun, you still need to keep an eye on flank spots or wherever you placed your drones.

Willow- Before ulting, try using flutter to gain more height. Gaining more height makes it harder for the enemy to hit you.

If no one wants to play frontline, blame Evil Mojo's balancing

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 05:32 PM PST

In an objective-based game, it makes sense for the frontlines to be the strongest class, but nope. Nerf after nerf to the point where they are entirely reliant on the team. Who wants to take that risk? Who wants to be able to do NOTHING if their team decided to troll? Why would you nerf frontlines while also buffing flankers? I'll tell you who does that, someone that doesn't play this game.

Why don't they try some more fun, easy to make modes?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 02:50 PM PST

I'm not asking for anything wild or for them to develop something as fleshed out as the main game modes, but other games like League, Smite, Overwatch, and soforth all bring in quirky modes that just mess with settings a little bit to shake things up. They could rotate it out daily, or have one every weekend or something. Stuff along the lines of:

    • Random Champion upon respawn
    • Everyone is the same Champion
    • Lower cooldowns on everyone + quicker ultimate regeneration
    • Low gravity
    • Fast Siege carts
    • Damage, Flank, Frontline, or Support only
    • 7500 credits to max out our builds instantly or something

Etc. It could be fun to mess around more if we were given the opportunity to in silly modes sometimes. That shouldn't take a ton of development resources. They could introduce this as a highlight within a future patch and from there onward it would just fit in.
