    An Update Regarding Paladins Server Issues

    Over the last few weeks our team has been seeing reports regarding server instability increase in number across both Europe & North America - namely focused on cases where lag was causing ability delays, spikes in player ping, and issues with hit registration.

    Today we wanted to take a minute to help provide some background on the situation, cover some of the steps we've taken to resolve these server issues, and speak towards our plans to continue working on a steady solution.

    As some of you may already know, we shipped Sands of Myth with a major set of updates to our server technology back in March. This was done to help us prepare for the coming launch of Paladins on the Epic Games Store, as well as provide a stronger long-term backbone for our servers as the game continues forward. Naturally, we expected a few issues to arise while we stabilized the new tech, but those have proven difficult to track down given the massive surge of internet usage due to COVID-19 forcing many to stay at home in quarantine.

    Since early March our community team has been working with members of the Assembly of Champions, players from the Paladins Pro Circuit, and other players to collect bad Match IDs. With these in-hand, Evil Mojo's Xienen and our operations team have been working to track down, isolate, and resolve key issues clogging up our server infrastructure.

    At this time, we've managed to find and resolve three major issues to help ease lag you're experiencing in-game across Europe & North America:

    • For Europe, we found an issue with internet congestion in London which was causing intermittent ping issues that were resolved by moving those servers to another country entirely. We also found an issue in the network right outside one of our data centers in Amsterdam causing packet loss issues, which we have solved by moving those servers to a different country as well.
    • In North America, we found an issue with a particular data center which we then took offline and moved those servers to another data center - solving the issue.

    After patching these issues up, some of our players have reported a much more stable experience free of lag causing delays, ping spikes, and more - meaning we're on the right track!

    As we continue moving through April, our team is going to keep investigating any reports of server lag through provided Match IDs and working to solve any issues we're able to track down. So if you have any bad Match IDs to help us out, please send them to a member of our community team such as myself, u/HiRezRomanova, or HiRezLunium so we can pass them onto Xienen and our operations team to investigate. Just be sure to include the Match ID, your region, and a brief description of the issues you experienced.

    We'll continue to keep you posted on our progress via social media as updates arise. Thank you so much for sticking with us as we work through these issues to ensure everyone in the Realm has a great experience!

    Why Street Justice is Inferior to the other Maeve Talents

    My last post stated that I would have an explanation on why SJ is inferior, here you guys go. Also, I'm on mobile so the formatting might be off.

    Maeve, as you know, is a high mobility flank that throws projectile daggers. She gets her mobility from Prowl, an ability that boosts jump height and all around speed, and Pounce, a dash that does a base 400 damage. Flanks in Paladins are almost always used to either take out the back line (supports and damage) or to defend against enemy flanks. If the flank can't find an opening to get a kill, they typically serve to poke from a distance and distract to encourage an opening. One of Maeve's talents is Street Justice, which causes pounce to automatically execute enemies below 35% health. This may seem like a good talent, but it has significant downsides. It lowers mobility, a key part of Maeve, it causes low skill due to less use of daggers, and it is simply outclassed by other talents.

    SJ is an inferior talent because it lowers mobility. Maeve is a very squishy flank, with a base 1900 health, making her easily defeated when she doesn't have the ability to dodge behind cover. Pounce is one of the best abilities in the game for escaping enemy fire and moving behind cover. Street Justice, however, encourages a really good mobility option to be used for damage. This heavily reduces her survivability. While you can use nine lives to reset cooldowns, nine lives itself has a lengthy cooldown (even with cards) that can catch a Maeve player off guard. In all, Street Justice limits mobility and therefore survivability.

    The second reason Street Justice is bad is that it causes low skill. Maeve's daggers are one of the harder weapons to use in the game, since they are projectiles, not hitscan. This means that you have to shoot where your opponent will be, not where they currently are (unless they are moving straight towards or away from you). With SJ, you do have to hit your first few daggers, but you can just resort to a quick finisher afterwards. This inhibits skill, as you don't have to use the daggers anymore after a certain amount of hits. While this could be seen as unimportant, higher skill players are very good at countering SJ through dodging the pounce or using CC effects like cripple/silence. When in a situation like this, the reliance on pounce can inhibit aiming capabilities and cause Maeve to die.

    The final reason that Street Justice is a poor talent is because it is simply outclassed by other talents. Mobility-wise, Rogue's Gambit is better. Getting a kill or elimination resets Pounce, which can help Maeve get out tricky situations. Additionally, Rogue's Gambit encourages skill. The daggers are necessary to do almost all the damage. If needed, you can finish with a 440-damage pounce which resets after the kill anyways, not hurting mobility. This encourages skill since there is no bonus damage except for 40 added onto the pounce, which is insignificant. Cat Burglar is really where you see Street Justice's inferiority. After prowl, the damage of the daggers gets boosted to about 500. If all daggers are landed, you do 2000 damage, almost enough to kill all champions except tanks (which flanks have as a last priority). This just leads to one dagger or pounce to get the kill. For Street Justice, you also have to land 4 daggers and then can pounce. This may seem like CB is an equivalent to SJ, but with CB you also have superior distance-poking capability when you can't find an opening, or you need to attack air champions like Drogoz. Overall, Rogue's Gambit outclasses SJ due to more mobility and Cat Burglar outclasses SJ due to more damage and superior poking.

    Street Justice is one of the more popular talents for Maeve since it is easy for beginners to use and it, admittedly, has a cool concept. However, after using all the talents in matches, it is evident that Street Justice is inferior to the other options. Firstly, it lowers mobility for a character that completely relies on mobility to survive. Second, it causes low skill due to over reliance on an easy-to-use move, and therefore less use of daggers, which have range. Finally, SJ is simply outclassed by other talents due to less mobility compared to RG and less damage and range compared to CB. Hopefully, many Maeve players will improve after using other talents that will increase potential.

    Just a Post of unpopular opinion

    This is just a list of unpopular opinions. Also i said opinion so don't take as a fact . This is just my take on all the stuff happening in Paladins and what I think they should do .so if I said something about your " main or one trick " . Please don't be offended because it's mostly or just flase . I said it because this community has a norm for unethical practices because it gives them a advantage . Also these opinions are from a PC perspective

    1) Tanks aren't fun anymore they might be viable . EM made it a way that tanks are hard to kill but they are narrowed to that one basic function. Offtanks are made to be as a catalyst for your damage and flank . They can kill one themselves but with the a person they can do work. Tanks are heavily nerfed in S3 because they needed flanks to be working . But gutting one class wasn't really the way . Now if your team doesn't contribute the map control you don't get to cap . You either cap and win all or you die a lot while capping because your team follow-up . This severely affected the flexibility of tanks and their carry potential .

    Now AoC giving EM ideas to boost more tank play in casual but there is no fun to pick them . Tanks get played in rank because tank are viable because you are not trying to find fun there . You are trying to win . That's where the pleasure comes from . One of the idea they brought up is more gold for players who picks tanks in casual Which is kinda absurd. Even if they bumped i don't think players who played this game for long have a short of gold in their pockets .

    2) Strix does need more nerf. Mainly a small lockout duration in his fire because unlike Kinessa there is no punishing factor for a long range 1200 damage with no fall-off shot . This makes him less of a mence . And he still be different to Kinessa because he can quickscope but he can't quickscope twice in a very small duration that gives 2400 burst .

    3) BK needs a massive nerf . In my opinion currently BK is more spammy than Dredge can ever be. Rework Royal subjects it's a crutch talent .

    4) Evie is fine , I don't think she needs any buff or nerfs. For a Champ who's high risk , High reward . She is meant have to tryhard playstyle and I think it's rewarding.

    5)Maeve is too much stuff . Damage , mobility, self sustain , good abilities rotation which gives her good escape . From EM looking at charts for Winrate (that's how they balance by not playing the game or taking opinion or criticism under consideration) Maeve has low winrate . Almost 70% of the Maeve are bad because her abilities are so flexible and they do the basic predictable thing . Maeve's abilities are so flexible that you can combo and most unpredictable things .she's the most unpredictable Champion in this game

    6)Some Champion needs a Rework in their appearance , Lex , Pip , Vivian . Lex and Vivian seems basic when it comes to their appear . Pip looks like a polygon model from 2008.

    6) Not really likes the direction of the map rework . Instead of Reworking the map they are just reworking the visual aspect of those map .frog isle is still gets a lot of snipers and bad flank routes and Infact now its more sniper supported map after they removed some branches from trees . Frozen gaurd is the next Rework . For some reason that map have hard time pushing the payload mostly because the defender have more cover than the attackers . Most of the time it comes to a 3/4 because the attackers keep failing to push the payload and defenders win because of the comeback mechanics .

    7) Rework or make the current maps better instead of making new ones and take more time to make one . The last 2 maps were disaster bazaar and Warders gate are terrible . The crystal gimmicks are unreliable . bazaar is badly optimized and bad concept when it comes to map design .why make like 18-20 maps if the players only like 3 or 4 of them . There is no point in that.

    8) make skin for Champion who didn't receive skin . I know it's business . Maeve and Ying skin sells more . Noone likes a old man . But at the same time give Atleast one skin for them . It doesn't really matter if Maeve or Ying gets more skin . But it doesn't mean those skin have to take the spot of Champion that didn't receive for 2 years .

    9) less grind for BP for people who are not thinking of buying the BP . If you see grind is Alright if you have the BP because you get extra Exp. But it's hard to grind without it . Especially when 450 crystals is in it

    I played like 2/3 years ago, I liked it but it wasn't anything special. I played it again with friends now and goddamn this game is amazing now, It's as good as Overwatch but It's free and you can play it on a toaster :D

    Hello, old player here. Been here since before Mal'Damba came out. We are all aware that Paladins economy is... well, screwed. I have tons of Diamond Chests and Gold Chests that I can't open because I have every skin, millions of gold that are just useless to me.

    For months, years, I've seen you struggle with a way to make players actually have to spend their currency, a "gold-dump" if you will. I never feel like I'm getting things in a rewarding way, it's just a "eh, might as well." And finally, after playing other games, I think I found a solution. I've been playing Apex Legends a lot, and there's this thing where, well:

    If you already own a Legendary skin there, you can use your "gold" (legend coins) to buy some sick recolors of it.

    Now, I know skins are hard to make and take time, but how hard can it be to make EDGY or BEATIFUL recolors of already existing skins? Try out different palettes! Pumking BK, but with the colors of a watermelon! High elf Lian, but with a dark elf vibe to it! Infernal Seris but with a more abyss themed palette! Or just go wild!

    Yeah, you've done this already with skins like nightbane cassie, but please, try to think of the future, this could really help you make a tighter bond with us! Don't just use them for things like mixer or crystals, you have gold for a reason, make it be worth something! I'm not asking for free stuff!

    Make a vault, or a chest, or whatever, maybe a weekly rotation, and add in recolors of pre-existing legendary/epic skins, if you already own them, you get to buy access to one of the recolors, for, I don't know 500.000 gold or more. I want those edgy black colors on my silly cutie Moji, and I'd gladly spend my gold for those instead of a sill 1% title.

    TITLES ARE SOOO BORING YOU GUYS, THEY MEAN NOTHING CURRENTLY. Before, if you had a champion title, it's because you were level 20 or higher with it (HUGE GRIND), it gave you status: This Drogoz ain't messing around.

    Now, eh, titles are pretty much just for giggles. There's some cool ones, but... Come on, recolors is probably stuff people would pay high amounts of gold for, guaranteed.

    Not convinced yet? Watch THIS then: Allow us to 'sell' our unused chests for gold, so we can buy more recolors for our favourite champs. 2 birds, 1 stone.

    It's just an idea, but I think since you guys have currently no other solution, might as well give it a thought.

    Furia is a damage that can heal, she is overpowed in every single way possible. Her weapon is too strong for a support, her mobility skill deals 600 damage with aimbot projectiles, she can spam the beam that also deals damage and stuns and well, her ult... Maybe the best in the game atm
